At Mortdale Public School we believe that Information technology and computers (ICT) is not just a complement to all other subject area, but one of the tools for engaging students in new ways of learning. ICT is integrated into our teaching program throughout the curriculum. We have outstanding computer facilities including a computer laboratory with 28 networked PCs, 19 networked PCs in the Library and at least one networked workstation in each classroom throughout the school. Students and teachers have Internet access which enables them to access global information to complement their learning. A state-of-the-art multimedia fileserver distributes reference and educational titles. Access to the school's Library catalogue is available in all parts of the school. Internet access is also widely available. As part of the Department of Education's "Connected Classrooms" program, our dedicated Open Learning room will be outfitted with an interactive whiteboard, camera and projector to enable students to connect with other schools and experts and participate in on-line field trips, all around the world. Through fundraising efforts and the support of the P&C, we are also in the process of installing interactive whiteboards in three additional classrooms, with the aim to extend this new technology to all classrooms by 2012. Our additional technology resources include: laser printers, scanners, digital still and video cameras and concept keyboards. Some of the ways our students use technology include:
